DiVitas Networks Becomes First Vendor to Demonstrate Mobile-to-Mobile Convergence on Interop Las Vegas 2007's InteropNet Network

Mountain View, Calif. (05/20/2007) - DiVitas Networks™, the leader in the emerging mobile-to-mobile convergence (MMC) market, announced that it is the first vendor to demonstrate automatic, seamless roaming running over the InteropNet show network at Interop Las Vegas May 21-24, 2007.

“Mobile-to-mobile convergence is a hot market and so I anticipate massive interest in the DiVitas solution from attendees taking tours of the InteropNet,” said Glenn Evans, InteropNet lead network engineer, CMP Technology. “We’re really excited to have DiVitas join us in the InteropNet this year because it means Interop has the first interoperability network to demonstrate how this live, shipping solution actually works.”

The DiVitas MMC solution began shipping in February and is the first available solution to converge cellular and mobile networks. DiVitas enables end users to carry a single device that allows them to roam seamlessly, back and forth, among disparate networks (WiFi/cellular), without dropping active-calls or active-messaging sessions. DiVitas is also unique for being the first vendor to grant mobile workers with access to enterprise applications (voice, email, presence, IM, PBX deskphone functions, CRM, etc.), regardless of their location and type of available network access (enterprise- or public- WiFi or cellular).

The DiVitas MMC solution consists of a Mobile Convergence Appliance™ (MCA) deployed inside the enterprise and a Mobile Convergence Client™ (MCC) embedded in handsets such as the Motorola MC70 rugged enterprise digital assistant (EDA) and Nokia Eseries business devices.

Building the annual InteropNet Las Vegas show network combines the effort and technologies of several hand-picked, innovative vendors who have joined forces to take on the ultimate networking-interoperability challenge. This year’s InteropNet highlights mobility and wireless networking with a goal of demonstrating to show attendees how they can leverage an existing or future WLAN investment to deploy a voice application in order to maximize their mobile-communications experience, boost employee productivity and improve the bottom line.

“The enterprise is ready for a converged solution and DiVitas is providing a way to extend corporate productivity to the mobile workforce without forcing them into contortions to stay connected,” said Brian Chee, voice and video team lead for the Interop tradeshow and networking researcher for the University of Hawaii School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology (SOEST). “Now all mobile workers can have PBX extension dialing, presence and access to the corporate telephony infrastructure, regardless of whether they are in a hotspot in Beijing or Burbank. All with a solution that will put a smile on the face of CFO’s everywhere.

DiVitas MMC Solution in the InteropNet

  • Handsets – DiVitas is partnering with leading mobile-handset manufacturers to ensure optimal functionality when using these devices with the DiVitas MMC solution. DiVitas is using its role as this year’s first InteropNet MMC-vendor to demonstrate interoperability with two of its partners:
    • Nokia – Nokia’s popular E61i and E65 business devices
    • Motorola – Motorola’s rugged dual-mode MC70 EDA
  • WLAN – Xirrus is the InteropNet WLAN provider and will demonstrate how companies can use their existing or future WiFi networks for voice applications, thus increasing availability, responsiveness and productivity among employees.
  • PBX – Avaya is the InteropNet PBX provider and is working with DiVitas to demonstrate how the DiVitas MMC solution can deeply integrate with third-party PBXs. Attendees will witness, for example, the ability to toggle between Avaya deskphones and DiVitas-enabled Nokia Eseries business devices.

“We are truly honored to have been chosen as the first vendor to provide an MMC solution running on the prestigious InteropNet show floor and demonstrate seamless roaming throughout this year’s Interop tradeshow,” said Vivek Khuller, president and CEO of DiVitas Networks.
