DiVitas Networks Announces Integration of Instant Messaging and Presence with Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005

Mountain View, Calif. (05/20/2007) - DiVitas Networks™, the leader in the emerging mobile-to-mobile convergence (MMC) market, announced today the integration of IM and presence from Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 with the DiVitas MMC solution, a cutting edge solution for mobilizing any worker, and their enterprise applications, over any network.

The DiVitas MMC solution is comprised of a Mobile Convergence Appliance™ (MCA) deployed inside the enterprise and a Mobile Convergence Client™ (MCC) embedded in market-leading Windows Mobile and Symbian handsets.

The DiVitas solution is mobile-network-, WLAN-, handset-, carrier- and PBX-agnostic, creating a total mobile-communications experience that remains under the complete control of the enterprise.

“The DiVitas solution addresses the global business need to increase workers’ mobility, accessibility, and productivity,” said Zeus Kerravala, Yankee Group’s senior vice president of enterprise research. “Microsoft’s Unified Communication strategy is very much about increasing availability and accessibility and so partnering with DiVitas makes Microsoft that much stronger in this regard.”

“Through this integration with Microsoft, DiVitas is directly extending the benefits of Office Live Communications Server 2005 & Office Communications Server 2007 beyond the desktop,” said Vivek Khuller, president and CEO of DiVitas. “End users will be able to place and receive calls and/or messages, whether they are in range of a cellular network or WiFi. They are no longer limited to cellular-only environments or a desktop connection.”

“Instant messaging and presence are playing an increasingly important role in helping mobile workers be more available, responsive, and productive,” said Paul Duffy, Group Product Manager from Microsoft, Corp. “The work DiVitas is doing with Office Live Communications Server 2005 to extend these communication tools from the desktop across communication modes is aligned with our vision for Unified Communications.”

The DiVitas MMC solution offers several key benefits:

  • Mobilizes single-device access to enterprise applications such as voice, IM, presence, email, PBX phone functions, CRM, etc. over any network.

  • Mobilizes any worker – expands beyond road-warriors to include so-called corridor-warriors as well.

  • Transforms today’s ordinary concept of a cellular-only handset into a multi-mode device capable of communicating over various types of mobile networks, such as enterprise- and public WiFi and cellular.

  • Seamless, automated, uninterrupted roaming among disparate networks (WiFi and cellular) increases mobile-worker availability, responsiveness and productivity.

  • Reduces costs by relying more on WiFi networks, and less on cellular, for mobile-communications (on or off the corporate campus).
